Good times

This past Sunday Peter, Amy, and I took a little drive to visit my Great-Grandma Chamberlain and my Grandma Davis. It's so remarkable to reflect on how long they've been gone. It seems like only yesterday they passed away. I guess that's typical of life here in mortality - it never slows down, it only speeds up.

We had a glorious time and Peter had fun crawling everywhere and getting grass clippings all over his socks. It was funny.

Peter has also learned to love the swing in our complex play area. He will laugh, laugh, and laugh every time we take swinging. Aunt Amy was so nice to take him out on this day.

Scrubbing those teeth

Yesterday Brandon and I had our semi-annual teeth cleanings at the dentist. While I was there I asked them what I should be doing to take care of Peters teeth and when he should start coming to the dentist.

After answering all my questions, they gave me a toothbrush, toothpaste, and told me to brush twice a day. As soon as we got home I pulled out the toothbrush and he started brushing on his own! Come to find out - HE LOVES TO BRUSH HIS TEETH ALREADY! Here is a couple of pixs of him doing it this morning.

Please excuse the messy hair. He obviously had a good night of sleep because he's darn hair wouldn't stay down.

Here are two other pictures I've taken this month. This one was taken at the Homeschool Halloween Party we had down at my parents with my bro. and cousin. Peter just loved eating Uncle Al's pumpkin lid a lot more than coloring his own pumpkin (which is guarding our front door if anyone wants to come see his "work of art"). I really think he is: Peter, Peter, our pumpkin eater.

This one is Peter climbing the stairs up to our neighbors. Oddly enough Peter just started going up them on his own. He's never even been around stairs before so I have no idea how he learned how to climb them. Does someone want to confess to teaching him ?!?! I think his motivation was to go up and visit our wonderful upstairs neighbors , Andrea and Dennis.

P.S. When we were done brushing his teeth this morning I put his toothbrush away and he started bawling. It was so funny. I hope he continues to enjoy brushing his teeth forever (unlike his Daddy).

Pondering

In preparation for my Relief Society lesson at the end of October I was reading this talk by President Uchtdorf. I am so excited to teach a lesson on the counsel he gave. Yippee! Needless to say, it's given me a lot to think about.

Zzzzzz

Finally, Peter had decided that he's old enough to start sleeping normally. Yea! Most nights he will sleep all night long. This morning he even slept until 8:30am. It is a wonderful milestone that has been too long in coming.

This is Peter and his sleepy face. Isn't he so cute!

Our Family Picture - Sept '09

We had our very talented Brother-in-law Shawn take our family pictures a few weeks ago. They turned out absolutely perfect. I want to get a sideshow up, but here is a sneak peek until I can get a bit more time.

A canning adventure

My Dad brought me over a bucketful of peaches from their trees a few days ago. I quickly realized that there were more peaches in the bucket than Bran, Peter, and I can eat. So, I bought some bottles from Walmart and gathered other canning supplies from here, there, and everywhere. In the end I had 6 quarts of peaches.

This is my little kitchen right before I got started. Thank goodness Peter took a good nap for me that day. I was able to get the whole process done and cleaned up before he woke up. It felt so rewarding to do something I'd never done by myself before.

Here is the finished product. I'm so proud of these six little bottles. While I was canning I had so many flash backs to when I was young. I remember canning with all the Burr family (my maternal side), as well as my Mom. I'll never forget making grape juice at our house on 800 S in Orem. One time I unplugged the drain for the juice and a purple stream of liquid got all over the kitchen. As you can imagine I got in BIG trouble for that.

I also had to include this last picture. While I was doing some housework earlier today I suddenly found myself alone. That's never a good thing with a crawling baby around. When I started yelling "Peter" I heard him hitting the door in the office. When I opened the door this is what I saw. It was so funny that I immediately burst into tears. My little boy is getting so BIG. Waaaaa. He was so proud of the fact that he ran and hid from Mom.

Utah State Fair

Last Thursday I threw everything on the back burner, told Brandon to take a vacation day from work, and we drove up to Salt Lake to see the sites and sounds at the Utah State Fair. The animals enthralled Peter and I loved seeing his amazed reactions to the creatures he's never been around. By far his favorite animals were the goats. I also have a soft spot for goats (having had Nubian milking goats during my teenage years) and I almost wanted one home with me.

Here are just a few of our favorite pictures from the fair.

A Picnic with Papa

On Friday Peter and I drove to UVU and joined Brandon for lunch. It was hilarious to attempt a picnic without a booster seat for Peter, but we did it anyway. It was so refreshing to get outside and enjoy some green grass and shade. Sadly our apartment complex is severely lacking when it comes to good shade and safe grass (meaning grass that hasn't been used by animals to go to the bathroom on).

While we were at UVU we went to the Icecream shop and picked out two BIG cones. As you can see from this picture Peter loved eating his first icecream cone. He totally takes after Brandon.

While we were on campus we also had to take Peter around to everyone that Bran works with so they could get a good look at him. This last picture is of him and 'uncle' Joe. It was so cute especially because a few seconds earlier Joe was down on the floor crawling with Peter. I was so sad that I was too slow to get a picture of that.

I'm so happy that Brandon works with such wonderful people and that I know so many of them too. UVU has been such a good place for us both to work and if wishes came true they would pay Bran enough money so he could stay there forever.
