Fall Fun

It's fall here and Utah is big on Farm Fun things to do. I took the boys over to our local pumpkin patch/corn maze and then later I took them up to Lehi for a bigger pumpkin patch/corn maze. We took some friends with us to the one in Lehi while their Mom is recovering from breaking her ankle. We had such a fun time on both occasions. I end up wishing Autumn would last a little longer so we could enjoy these fun things a few more times.

Shadow Play

One day we decided it would be fun to use our cameras to take pictures of shadows. The boys pulled out random toys and we snapped away. Both of these pictures are of Peter. The top one reminds me of Peter Pan. So, of course, it's my favorite. The boys have a whole lot more on their cameras. I'm sure we will do this activity again soon. It really was so much fun.

A darling memory

A very long time ago I uploaded this to youtube and I forgot about it. I found it the other day and my heart completely melted. He is so adorable and small.

Peter's gymnastics

Peter is loving his gymnastics class. I feel so fortunate that we found something he enjoys. Actually, we didn't find it - he just up and told me one day that he wanted to take a class.

At the first class I wasn't so sure about his teacher, but I've changed my mind and I think she is pretty great.

Tundra Habitats

This past week for science we learned about the Tundra. It was so much fun to read lots of books to the kids about the Arctic/Antarctic. Since polar bears are my favorite animal, I was in heaven. The boys also enjoyed it. At the conclusion of this unit study we decided it would be fun to build igloos out of sugar cubes. I've always wanted to use sugar cubes to build things. One thing I learned is that it takes more cubes then you would think. I didn't get many good pictures of mine and Brandon's creations, but these very simple ice buildings that they boys made turned out. I know we'll be doing more of this kind of craft soon.

Peter's experiment

A few days ago Peter spent a few hours (yes, a few hours) in the kitchen making experiments. I think this is a mixture of pickle juice and grape juice. I laughed so hard when I discovered it. I love being his teacher so much.

Country Wedding

My cousin got married recently to that greatest gal. Her family lives on a farm and they had the most amazing country wedding ever. It was actually the first country wedding I've ever been too, but I think it was worthy of a full cover spread in a magazine. When we got there two horses were even hitched up and ready to take the bride/groom where ever they needed to go. I love weddings so much. They are always such a good reminder to me of the wedding promises I have made. I also helps me to pause and take a moment to reevaluate how I am doing on those wedding promises. Mostly though, I just end up feeling a whole lot of gratitude for the person that found me.

Loving others more

I've been thinking recently about sin, especially in regards to the things I believe in as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It's been on my mind due to some things that have happened to people I know.

Once upon a time, a long-long time ago I was also asked to serve a large organization of women and I came to this same conclusion while I helped some of those women. The vast majority of people already know that when they sin, they are doing something wrong. When other people call them out on their sin it is like rubbing salt into a wound that is already very painful. So, in the vast majority of instances I choose to love the person instead of focusing on the sin.

After all, if the Savior was standing beside me, I know he would be doing the same thing.
