Bacon

The other day I decided to buy a few packs of bacon. Bacon is a hot commodity at our house. To save some cash I went with a less expensive brand. I thought it wouldn't be a problem, I have boys, they will eat it. WRONG, they thought it was gross and wouldn't touch it.

It got me thinking about my desire to save a few bucks compared to having the boys actually eat what I buy. I suppose that sometimes a cheaper food will work, but not for bacon. What parallels does this relate to at your house? As for me, I'm still pondering that question. Meanwhile, I continue to buy less of the premium bacon.

June 7th

Yesterday was such a nice day. The weather here has been cold and rainy. Extremely rare for Utah in June. It's made me just want to snuggle up and stay in bed. Both boys have colds so that's making us even more comfy and cozy here at home.

Today we had some fun things going on. Peter decided to pull out the Christmas train and play with it. This train is a little bit stubborn. It only likes going around small track. I guess the controller we have doesn't put enough power out to make it around a big track. It was fun to see Peter take control of this idea and work on it. He figured it all out by himself.

Recently, whenever Luke is bored he takes a bath. I'm sure our water bill will go up drastically because he takes a lot of baths every single day. Hopefully this is just a phase he is going through. He requires new undies after every bath, so my bathroom always looks like this.

I've been waiting weeks to get this video at the Springville library. I finally picked it up on Friday and we watched it all together with three big bowls of popcorn. It was hilarious. The boys didn't understand all the jokes....but the message was a good one. Even if things aren't going well, just hang in there and keep trusting in Heavenly Father and doing what is right - especially when it comes to telling the truth. It was absolutely perfect sitting and watching it together. A delightful memory surrounded by my favorite kids.

Peter has also been working on a new comic book. He is making one all about Spider Man. He is on a Spiderman kick right now. The other night he told me he stayed up until 2:30am playing spiderman. I am so, so glad he still has an active imagination. I hope he never loses it.

A few years ago Peter also made up this game called Castle War. We got it out today and played it. It was the first time I'd ever played it. It was quite complicated, but so much fun. We played it for an hour and probably could have kept playing for another hour too.

The boys were especially happy though that I made curry for dinner. It's their favorite meal.

Getting things done

I have been figuring out and learning some new things this month. I worked on programming our sprinkler system and then readjusted the time of it for the month of June. I also figured out how to program our stand alone sprinkler system or the garden too. It was so empowering.
Then my bathroom sink has been clogged for so, so long. So I got down to business today and got it all cleared up. It's so lovely to not have standing water after washing my hands.

Peter found an experiment he wanted to try out. It was for making your own rubber toys. You use food coloring and silicon and mix, mix, mix. It was so stinky and sticky. But the end product was awesome! I know we will make it again.

Sunday - Fun Day

This month we have been doing something different. We are teaching ourselves how to not have any screen time on Sunday. It has been really hard for the boys. They are so used to playing video games all day on Sunday (except for the time we spend at church) Anyway, they are slowly improving and we have done quite a few fun things with our time

This week Luke had me fix his fort over and over again. He made a fort at the beginning of the month and we kept it up for a solid three weeks. He has loved it. Peter loves making messes of any kind. This particular day he had found some body wash and decided to play with it while I was reading him bedtime stories. He is a hands on learner that isn't afraid to get dirty. It smelled like lavender in my room for days.

May 24th

Peter practiced his artistic skills on Luke and I today. I was a vampire. It's kinda hard to tell. Luke thought it was so hilarious. We used up the last little bit of makeup remover I had cleaning ourselves up. Peter already wants to do this particular activity again.

May 31st

Peter was gone camping with Brandon today. It was their first camping trip of the season. They had a great time with a bit of wind and some rain. They loved it anyway and came home stinky and dirty. Luke and I went up to Aunt Amy's for a shortened church meeting. We needed to get back home in time to help Bran and Peter unpack.

Luke has an epic first today -------- he was so bored that he went into his room and took a Sunday nap. I was amazed! Especially, because he was asleep for 2.5 hours.  It was so weird. I imagine he might do this on  regular basis when he is a teenager.
