Happy B-Day Luke

Luke is now a year old! I am so thankful we both survived the past year. There were times when I didn't think we would make it. I love this little guy with all my heart. Enjoy!

At a glance

While looking at our expeditures from last year I was blown away by how much we spent on things. Here are just a couple of the categories that blew me away:

Gas - $1,842
Groceries - $5,625
Dining out - $425
Car Payment - $4,771

Needless to say, we spend a lot more money than even I realized. My goal is to be more frugal and resourceful in 2012. What about you - what are your budget goals for this year?

Two moments in time

I've been attempting to get a family picture of us since the end of November. I finally succeeded this morning just before we left for church. Peter's smile is so genuine in this picture. He was laughing because I was being silly. I'm glad my sillyness paid off this time. Luke, on the other hand, is totally doing what he does best.

Recently, Peter hasn't wanted to fall asleep in his bed. I can't understand his reasoning, but whatever. Last night he was asleep in the sleeping bag, and tonight he was like this. Silly, silly, kid.

Valentine's Day

A week or so ago I started to feel the Winter *blahs*. You know, the feeling you get when winter seems permanently parked in your driveway. Anyway, to help me feel better about things I pulled out our "Heart Day" decorations. They make me so happy! I guess I'm funny that way. Most of these decorations were bought at the Dollar Store. Honestly, if I was rich I could spend my entire fortune at the Dollar Store. Just so you know.....

Toys and stuff

We loved Christmas and the boys have been loving their toys. I am so thankful for a wonderful neighbor who donated some of her kids old toys to us. She made Christmas for my boys very, very special. Here are the annual pictures of us with our loot.

Mr Snowman

This picture was taken about a week and a half ago when we had our 2nd big winter storm come though. Peter was so delighted to go outside to play in the snow, and I was delighted when Brandon went out to play with him. They made a snowman together while they were out there. Peter insisted on letting Mr. Snowman use his cowboy hat. His eyes are made out of oranges, his nose is a carrot, and his mouth are croutons. Gotta love this funny snowman. Peter looks outside his window everyday and comments on how much of Mr. Snowman is left. Currently he's about the size of a small snowball now.  Hopefully we'll get a few more snowstorms before this winter is over so we can make a few more snowmen.

Tired kiddos

This picture makes me laugh whenever I see it in my picture folder. I had Brandon take this picture during our  New Years Eve party with the Thomas side. That's me and Peter along with my sister-in-law Allison and her daughter Hailey. We are both holding our kiddos around 11pm and the kids were almost ready to fall asleep in our arms. I was actually surprised that they were able to stay awake this long. Ah, what fun times.

Ali Bob & Luke

On Sunday night we had my extended family over to our house for our monthly family party. We always sing Happy Birthday to anyone whose b-day falls within the month. This time we got to sing to my brother Alex (Ali Bob) who turned 18 on January 5th. We also sang to Luke who turns 1 on the 28th. This is a rare photo of Alex actually holding Luke. It's like pulling teeth to try and get him to hold kids (especially babies). I hope he'll get better about holding kids once he has a few of his own.

Pajama Sam

Brandon found a computer game that Peter loves to play. It's called Pajama Sam. Peter is obsessed with it and he goes around most days calling himself Pajama Sam. This is Peters costume just like Pajama Sam. Brandon and I made that red lunchbox and the mask is from a Halloween costume. He goes around telling me that he needs to capture the darkness and put it in his lunchbox. Hence the flashlight. Anyway, just today we figured out a way to use his blanket as his cape and it made Peter so happy.

Also, here is a video of Peter running around the house with his cape singing Santa Claus is coming to Town. He loves that song and I'm just glad I finally managed to get most of it recorded. I love his cute little voice and I know one day I'm really going to miss this stage of Peter.
