New office

Things are getting real for my job being finished at the old High school. I worked on finishing up the last few things I needed to do, and then transferred my boxes to my new office. The dynamic will be WAY different, but I am hopeful it will be enjoyable.

One downside to my new office is that I won't have any windows. So, this plant came home with me permanently. Originally, Staci Little brought it to me only so it could enjoy some sun. Then, during the last year it gradually became my plant. We almost killed it over Christmas break when Staci forgot to take it home - but with a little TLC we managed to bring it back from the brink of death.

Recap

Tis the season for doing all things volunteer for the fair. I am a little bit worried that I won't have enough people to help, and somehow the directors will decide to 'fire' me. But, that's probably me just being dramatic.
The school had their annual Spring showcase. It's a community event where parents/family/community can come and see projects that the kids have been working on all year. These are some of my favorites. The vase above was made my my friends daughter.
I don't know this student, but I was in awe of her design. It looks amazing. I think they are coasters, but I think it would be cool to make a wall hanging.
The cool chair was designed and made by one of my Jr Fairboard members. I hope she enters it into the fair.
This is another one of my Jr Fairboard members. I think they are adorable.
Both the lizard and this sun were made by Hazel, Larry's daughter.
I think this angler fish was made by and advance student. How else would you know how to make all of those difficult welds.
A couple friends and I went to a pottery night in Orem on Friday. This is the cute octopus that I decided to carve into my plate. I hope it turns out adorable once it has been fired.
When I was done at the temple last night I found this on my car. A whole lot of cars had the same thing. It was pretty amazing to have someone do such a thing for some many people. I bet they made 100 or so.

New things are coming

Exciting things are coming! At work, we have been anticipating a new high school for a few years. It's thrilling to be able to say we are in the last phases of construction.

On Monday our department was able to go inside and see what the classrooms/offices look like. My office is a box - but I think it will work out with a little decoration and a plant or two. It was fun to see a layout of my furniture. I'm not sure if the boxes inside the room are mine, or not, but it helped to see that I have a place.

Speaking of office furniture, Luke's office chair has been failing for a really long time. So, he and I took a trip this week and got him a new one. He was a super hero loading it into the car all by himself. I managed to assemble it without too much difficulty, but when Luke went to sit down on it the seat was not right. Only after a call to customer support did I realize I had put the seat on backwards. I had a really good laugh at myself over that error.

I was able to go with a class on a field trip to the bean museum. It was a cold day, but I borrowed a coworkers jacket and off we went. This museum holds so many memories for me because I took the boys often when they were little. It made me a little weepy.

The last activity for the week was a meeting that we held at the Spanish Fork Fairground. This year, I am instituting monthly Jr Fairboard meetings. We have 15 teenagers on the committee and I'm wanting to make it a bigger deal than it has been in the past. We have our first meeting and I took pictures of a brother/sister who won't be around next month when we take everyone's pictures. Being at the Fairgrounds made me so excited for the fair. It's exhausting work, but very rewarding. I love seeing families spending time together, plus the animals are so adorable!

I ended the week with a walk with my sweet neighbor. I love that I can just text her "walk" and she is always ready to go. On this night the lighting was perfect for capturing the beauty of this tree.
I can't forget to mention that I made a trip down to Payson on Saturday for Alex's annual graduation celebrations. I always get very contemplative when I visit cemeteries. It's a good place to analyze my life and where it's headed. On a scale of 1-10 I think I'm around a 6. I have so much to be grateful for.

Spring break

It's been a really enjoyable week of no work. It makes me excited for the upcoming summer holiday. I did odd little projects every single day this week. Plus, I went for long walks three days this week. I love Springville first thing in the morning when the sun isn't even fully up. So pretty. A few days before spring break our department signed up to bring chips/dips for all the faculty at SHS. These are a few of the people I work with. I feel lucky to work with such great people.

The field nearby has started to be developed. I try not to be too upset about it because a young couple in our ward have inherited a large chunk of the land and they are building a house on it. I had hope this day would never come, but it has.

I made this recipe this week. I've tried it before and didn't like it, but this time I made some minor adjustments, and I like it a whole lot better. I'm rationing them as an after work snack.

The tree stump that I dug around, and then my neighbor came and chopped off. Super grateful for amazing neighbors.

This is the work bunch. Super grateful for them!

Annoying problem

I woke up this morning to cold water for a shower. It wasn't much fun. This is the second time the pilot light has gone out within a monthish. It's good that I'm getting used to relighting it, but it's still not very fun.

Today was a very, very windy day! My poor daffodils that were standing straight up yesterday, are now bowing almost to the ground. Gotta love the windy spring weather in Utah.

A beautiful visit

I took myself to the Lindon Temple open house directly after work yesterday. I remember Larry and I flying over the temple years ago, but seeing it finished was even more impressive. It is unlike any temple that I've been too. It's huge and so extremely tall!

This temple has four endowment rooms and two baptistries. It was even more fun because one of the ladies from work ended up being in my 'tour group'. While sitting in the celestial room I couldn't help but think that there weren't enough seats. LOL. One thing I have learned while being a temple worker, is celestial rooms never have enough seats. Patrons really, really love spending significant time in this room.

I'm so glad I was able to attend. Temples are such a blessing!

A month of reading

I've spent a lot of this month reading books. Books for my work book club, books for our neighborhood book club, and books just for fun. It's been a lot of fun.
