That thing I do every June

This past week I had a day where I worked on our school schedules for next year. This entails going through all the curriculum that I already have. It's quite the job. I have 10 totes full plus several bookshelves of books. It took me the entire day to finish.

Since I was at it, I also pulled out and sorted all my jounals. I'm at 45 and counting. Crazy!

I think this is what our schedule will be next school year:

Math, Spelling, Writing, US History, Science, Recitation, Piano, 3d printing for Peter, 3d art for Luke. I'll probably add some geography as well. Plus, I think both boys could use a typing class. I'm really hoping it will be a good year.

An Epic thing I did

In the middle of February my shower door broke. It has been a problem for a very long time. In addition to the door, the wall on one side of it was getting soaked with water. So, I made an epic decision to replace the entire thing.

My neighbors across the street, that are like parents to me, replaced theirs several years ago. I was impressed with their remodel so I went with the same company. I am so glad that I did. They were so professional, competent, and transparent. It took 7 weeks for us to get on their list, plus 5 days from start to finish. I am so pleased with the results.

It is so beautiful and sturdy. I don't worry about water getting behind it because they are solid peices. Since they were doing it, I had them expand the shower out about 7 inches. Funny enough, it really makes a difference. For fun, I had the boys each write something while the baseboards were exposed. They each wrote their name and the date. Luke then wrong "Among Us" and Peter wrote "No". I chose to include a scripture Helaman 5:12. Very fun.

Having the workers in and out of the house was a little crazy. I especially felt bad for the guys that were carrying in the large sheets of marble. Going up my narrow stairs was pretty tight. Also, at one point, I could hear what I thought was Peter coming down the stairs so I was reprimanding him about just punching his brother. LOL - it wasn't Peter, it was Kevin the plumber. I felt super dumb. Ah well. Life is never dull at our house.

Now I just want to redo the rest of my bathroom. Hahaha. Maybe one day in the far, far distant future.

Luke's talent

Luke's current obsession is the filters on my camera. I can't even begin to explain how many pictures I have that look like this one. Apparently, Luke enjoys how I look with facial hair. Yes, I do keep them all. It will be a treasured memory when Luke no longer cares about me and my face.

#lifegoals

I've started actually shopping for our groceries now. This boy has started to come with me. It's been so much fun! He is learning about the buying power of a mother. My #lifegoal is for me to make my typical 2 week grocery list and let him go chose all my stuff and pay for it. Really, it's been such a great bonding activity. Plus, he is learning about brands and why I chose one kind over another. Thank goodness for homeschool that lets allows us to go before school lets out and things get crowded.

Projects

Heavenly Father has a funny way of introducing me to people. About 2 years ago my neighbor started asking me if I would help her with some small projects for the local elementary school. She is an aide for a bunch of teachers over there, and sometimes she just couldn't get all the work done. So, I've been working on cutting out lamination pages for her.

I've done all sorts of cute little projects. This was one of my bigger projects. My favorite were the cute animals that I got to cut out at Halloween time. She even had adorable outfits  so they kids could dress up their favorite animals in Halloween outfits.

Fast forward to January when a nearby house went up for sale and was sold to a teacher at the local elementary school. Yes, it was the same teacher! Now, instead of getting them from my neighbor, I go right to the source. It's been so fun to do. I call it my therapy. She actually sent a paper cutter for me to use, but scissors are my preferred method.

This month I am cutting out leprechauns and golden coins for her. Since she is a new teacher there is a lot that she is wanting to do for this year, and all the years to come.

Peter's Puzzle

This kid really loves puzzles. I really don't know why we don't do them more.

Luke's Puzzle

He helped quite a bit with this puzzle. He really loved picking it and seeing it finished.

Dollar store goodness

I found this cute sign at the Dollar Store today. It sums up my feelings exactly.

Changes - again and again and again

2021 taught me that changes are going to happen whether I am wanting them to or not. Turns out not working for Qkids anymore was one of the biggest blessings of 2021. I can't even begin to explain how much better I feel because I am sleeping like humans are meant to sleep.

Most of the month of December was spent studying for my Insurance Exam. Oh, the stress. It was AWFUL! I am so glad I am on the other side and can look back for the refining experience it was. I also had a difficult time getting my fingerprints taken (the state contracts with a specific agency who is super flakey). It eventually worked out and I am officially an Insurance Agent with American Family Insurance.

Heavenly Father often open doors that you would never in a million years expect to be open. I happened to know an agent and while chatting with him, an opportunity opened. I started working for his office on Jan 18th. The learning curve of a new job is never very fun. Thankfully, he is willing to be super flexible with my hours and I can work from home. I am eager to start making some money for his office. Since I like to chat with people this job shouldn't be too difficult - right? Do I look professional enough? I can't even express what a relief it is to get my braces off before I started this job. With a bit of luck (and some hard work), I'm also hoping to get back into contacts this year too. 2022 is going to be a year of goodness, I can feel it.

Braces are off

It was a very glorious day!
